Steer Town residents on edge following fatal shooting

Residents of Steer Town in St. Ann are reportedly on edge following the fatal shooting of a man and the injuring of another in the community on Saturday.

Cheston Alexander Thompson was killed by gunmen shortly after 11 o’clock Saturday night while playing dominoes in a yard.

It was the second killing in the community in recent months. In September, a shooting at a games room left one man died and three others injured.

A resident told RJR News that the community is tense following the latest shooting.

She said more police presence is needed to prevent a further flare up of gang violence in the community.

“We want them fi come, stand up fi wi, help wi out cause wi nuh know wah gwaan and we scared,” she bemoaned.
